Our Mission is from Ephesians 4:11-13: It was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” Preschool through Kindergarten – Because younger children often have trouble sitting through an entire church service, our Preschool and Kindergarten class begins right after the children’s sermon (about 9:55 am) and run to about 10:45 am. The children will be excused with their teacher after the children’s sermon and will go to their classroom. This gives our younger children both the opportunity to spend some time in church with their families before being excused for the activity of the classroom. They will join the older children when they gather to sing Bible songs and then return to their classroom to finish their lessons. We have found that this schedule also allows the parents to focus on the adult sermon. The Preschool/Kindergarten schedule looks something like this:
The Sunday school curriculum that we use for our younger children is the traditional “Growing in Christ” Concordia Curriculum, which you can view by clicking on this link. First through Fifth Grades – We teach our older children scripture and Bible accounts through our own workshop curriculum. These children stay with their families in church through the adult sermon. Their schedule looks something like this:
The times in both these schedules can change due to changes in our worship such as baptisms, communion and/or special music. The changes to these times are usually no more than 15-20 minutes. Christ Lutheran Church also has a Memory Verse Program for our 1st through 5th graders that is designed to encourage our children to memorize Holy Scripture. Children are rewarded for learning each memory verse. The reward is a prize they pick out of our “Treasure Box”. Each month there is a Scripture for the children to memorize that supports the lessons for the month and each month the prize is different. Our goal is for children to learn Scripture, therefore, we will accept a memorized Scripture at anytime – not just during the designated month. We firmly believe in the positive spiritual benefit of Scripture memorization. Please help your children to learn the memory verses. If you do not have children in Sunday school you can help by encouraging the children you know to learn the verses. If you have any questions about the Sunday school schedule or the Memory Verse program, please contact Jane Kampion
