Our Curriculum

Currently we divide our children into two groups: Non-readers and readers. Our non-readers include pre-k and kindergarten children. They are taught a traditional Sunday school curriculum published by Concordia Publishing called “Growing in Christ”. For more information about this curriculum you can visit their website at http://sundayschool.cph.org

Our readers include 1st – 5th graders and are taught a curriculum based on the Workshop Rotation Model. This curriculum is designed around 4 weekly lessons on a Biblical event. Each lesson uses a different workshop method of teaching the children. The workshop methods we are able to use in our classroom environment are:

The children read directly from their Bibles (NIV) every Sunday. The classrooms are supplied with Bibles but the children are encouraged to bring their own Bibles as well. One of our goals is to encourage and teach our children to read their Bibles.

The Workshop model is a fun and more interesting style of learning then the traditional style of curriculum. It is easier to teach too. It does not require one or two teachers teaching every Sunday for a year. Instead, a teacher can choose a method of teaching that he or she enjoys and lead just those workshops. Or perhaps there is a particular Bible lesson, such as “The Good Samaritan”, that they would love to teach. It is very flexible and works well with many teachers teaching less often.

Most lessons are structured this way:

Our Staff: Our Sunday school is led by Jane Kampion and all of our teachers are volunteers from Christ Lutheran Church. We are called to serve Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit and by the grace of God. If you are interested in helping or just learning more about our Sunday school, please contact Jane Kampion at church or call 720-1240.
